Admission Procedure


1. Admission to Kendriya Vidyalaya is through:


a. Admission Test.


b. On transfer from other Kendriya Vidyalayas.


2. Eligibility for admission for priority would not by itself secure Admission in a school or a class if the seats are not vacant or the child is not considered suitable for the class.


3. 31st July is the last date for admission except when the student is on Transfer from a Kendriya Vidyalaya.


4. Parent/Guardian will submit the Registration form to the office for classes other than Class I. For Class I, the same should be submitted latest in the month of April. The date for admission is 1st of the March and for other classes, it is in the month of Feb.


5. Admission will be on the basis of a test to be conducted by the Vidyalaya, the dates to be notified by the Principal.


6. Admission will be allowed after a student qualifies himself / herself in the Test and submits the T.C. of the previous school along with the Progress Report of the last examination passed.


7. The Admission Test shall be held in the following subjects.


a. Primary Classes (I to V) - English, Hindi, Mathematics.


b. VI to VII English, Hindi, Mathematics, General Knowledge.


c. English, Hindi, Mathematics, General Science and General Knowledge.


d. Admission to Class X and XII is not usually given except to the students coming from other Kendriya Vidyalaya.


8. The Principal will arrange admission Test and his decision on admission will be final.


METHODS OF ADMISSION


1. For Class-I :- No admission test would be conducted for admission to class-I. All applications received would be divided into seven categories in order of priority as laid down in para above. Each list would be taken up for admission in order of priority to the extent vacancies are available. When a stage is reached that the list of one category cannot be fully accommodated for admission, the names of all children of that category would be written on small slips of paper separately and placed in a box after suitably folding the slips. Children from this category would be selected by a draw of lot from the slips so placed in this box. For transparency, this draw of lot should be done in the presence of the concerned parents to the extend feasible.


2. For Class IInd and above except class 11th.:- For admission to these Classes an admission test would be conducted the merit list prepared for each category of priority separately. Admission would be given in order of merit going by the sequence of the categories as prioritized in para subject to the vacancies available in the class /KV.


3. Candidates securing less than 35% marks in each subject and less than 40% marks in aggregate would not be eligible for admission irrespective of their category is in the' priority.

AMENDMENT IN ADMISSION GUIDELINES – 2007

PARA 4 – ELIGIBLE AGE FOR ADMISSION

(A)
A child must be 5 years old on 31st March of the calendar year in which admission is sought for class I. For remaining classes, the eligible age will be calculated as on 30th September of the academic year. From 2009-2010 this qualifying age will be applicable up to class II and so on progressively, year after year.
(B)
An upper age limit for admission is fixed as the minimum age limit plus two years. No child would be eligible for admission in a class I if the age is more than this maximum age prescribed. The maximum age would be further relaxed by two years for handicapped children. These cases will be disposed of at the level of the principal. There will be no relaxation of upper age limit exceeding two years.
(C)
Eligible age for admission in foreign KVs will be governed by para 4(A) and (B).

PARA 12 – ADMISSION WITH KV TC

(i)
Admission of children with valid KV TC will be automatic only if the parent has been transferred from the station where the child was earlier studying to the station where admission is being sought and the transfer involves change of station.
(ii)
In all other cases the admission would be done only with the prior approval of the Assistant Commissioner of the region provided the enrolment in the class / section does not exceed 45.
(iii)
Notwithstanding (i) & (ii) above, if the enrolment in the class / section to which admission is being sought is above 45, the Assistant Commissioner of the region is empowered to grant admission in any other Kendriya Vidyalaya of the station where vacancy exists.
(iv)
A student with KV TC may also be admitted in project KVs only up to class – strength of 40. Beyond this no admission on KV TC would be done in project schools and Assistant Commissioner of the region would be empowered to allow admission in the nearest KV.

(Admission on KV TC up to the class strength of 40 will be allowed at the level of the Principal).
